Johnny Russell made a little girl's dream come true.

The Scottish forward ended his spell in Britain by venturing to the States by signing for Sporting Kansas City in January, penning a three-year contract.

He's bagged five goals in 11 appearances since joining, becoming a fan favourite.

Russell continued his goal scoring heroics by netting against Portland Timbers on Saturday.

And following the final-whistle, Russell gave a young child a brilliant birthday present.

For 90 minutes, she held a sign that read: "Johnny Russell, it's my 9th birthday!"

The ex-Derby County star saw the sign and walked over to her once the match concluded. He then gave her a big hug before handing her his shirt.

Brilliant.

A day she'll never forget. Class, Johnny.

On the subject of MLS, their ball boys are absolute savages.

Ball boys can often grab all the attention.

This little LAD in the States certainly did that following his moment of brilliance on the touchline.

We don't quite know when this happened but it's just come to our attention.

As the player retrieves the ball to take a throw-in, a ball boy incredibly intervenes in hilarious fashion.

So, this ball boy has the ball raised above his arms, ready to fire at the player. He eventually launches the ball at the MLS full-back just as he lifts the ball above his own head, connecting with the match-ball, spilling both balls onto the field.
