Italy Pay Tribute To Davide Astori By Wearing 'Astori 13' Shirts Against Argentina

Earlier this month the football world was hit by the tragic news that Fiorentina captain Davide Astori had suffered from a heart attack in his sleep and died.

In the days after the tragedy, former club Cagliari and Fiorentina retired the number 13 shirt that the centre back had worn for both sides, as tributes were made to the Italy international.

Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Saponara paid tribute to 'his captain' Davide Astori, a day after the footballing world was met with the awful news that the 31-year old was found dead in his hotel room.

It was also announced that Fiorentina will rename their training ground after their former captain.

Last night, the Italian national team paid tribute to the player by wearing the number 13 shirt in the warm up and when they entered the field of play.

The Azzurri's shirts also bared a special message - "Davide with us forever"

A brilliant gesture from the Italy squad:

RIP, Davide.
