Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Fred Rodrigues from Shakhtar Donetsk with a brilliant transfer announcement video on social media.

The Brazil international dropped a huge hint that he was Manchester United-bound at the start of the month before swiftly deleting a tweet revealing his location.

But after much negotiation, the deal is now concrete after he completed his medical at Carrington training ground, two weeks ago.

On Thursday afternoon, the club released the following video of 'Fred The Red' playing the piano before being told that 'we're not doing that again'.

Sit back, relax and enjoy this brilliant transfer announcement.

Pictures of Fred holding the Manchester United shirt have gone down well this afternoon as Jose Mourinho looks to rebuild for the coming season. with another player, right-back Diogo Dalot, also joining from Porto.

A statement on United's official website read:

"Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos."

Before you get to know Fred, though, there's something you need to know about his name - you've been pronouncing his name wrong this whole time.

That's according to South American football expert Tim Vickery, who said in his column in the Radio Times that English-speaking folk have been pronouncing many South American names incorrectly.

Fred's name is actually pronounced 'FRAY-zhee'.

Do you think this is a good signing from Manchester United ahead of the new season?
