To celebrate his 'first' wife's birthday, former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has just produced one of his most iconic Instagram posts to date.

The 50-year-old pundit, who played for Nottingham Forest, United and Celtic during a trophy-laden career, is known for his witty captions since joining the social media platform in February.

I mean, one of his first posts was on Valentine's Day and it showed him being choked by an Everton player.

Keane was also crowned 'the king of Instagram' by many users after he told drivers to 'run him over' if they spotted him cycling in lycra earlier this year.

He has since picked up over 1.9 million followers, with memorable posts including dressing up as a leprechaun for a Walkers crisps advert and reminiscing about getting kicked out by a bouncer after ten pints.

He rarely misses on the social media platform and on Wednesday morning, the former Republic of Ireland international gave his followers a big laugh with a dedicated post to his 'first' wife.

After cropping the picture from a holiday abroad, Keane wrote: "Happy birthday to my first wife x".

Former teammate Gary Neville was quick to respond with a couple of laughing emojis, with others commenting: "That's her job," and "Ahh jeez, really?" - two phrases often heard from Keane while on punditry duty.

Despite not following a single person on the social networking platform, the former midfielder has certainly made a name for himself.

As mentioned earlier, Keane posted a behind the scenes picture from a special St Patrick's-themed advert involving Gary Lineker and Walkers crisps.

He wrote: "Dressed as a leprechaun chasing Lineker for a bag of crisps. Do me a favour. Up The Irish" as well as the 50-second advert. Enjoy.

Here are a few more classics from Keano's page.
