Manchester United's official Instagram account appeared to accidentally go live on Wednesday afternoon as thousands of confused fans tuned in.

The Instagram live was only around 30 seconds long but at one point, around 37,000 people heard someone "microwaving their lunch" and "making a cup of tea" as a black background filled the screen.

After the 30-second mark, the video - which was broadcast to their 39.4 million followers on the social media platform - was eventually deleted.

Plenty of people took to social media to post about the incident.

"It sounds like an admin is microwaving lunch and making a cup of tea." said Twitter user Pete Evans.

Another Twitter user said: "Seeing @ManUtd going pocket live on Instagram for 40m followers as they heat up their lunch is a nice reminder we're all human and we all make mistakes!

Last year, Marc Jurado accidentally revealed that his move to Manchester United from Barcelona would soon be completed with a message posted on social media.

United agreed a deal to sign the 16-year-old Spanish right-back in May but an official club announcement was not made when he posted the following on Instagram.

Jurado replied to a Bruno Fernandes post on Instagram, which confirmed his allegiances are now with the Red Devils.

He simply responded with a muscle emoji and a "we keep fighting" message.
