Jamie Carragher has been visiting Liverpool's training ground this afternoon to meet new signing Virgil van Dijk - but he still found time to ruthlessly hammer Phil Neville on Instagram too.

As a legendary Liverpool centre-back, Carragher was at the Melwood training complex to interview the big Dutch defender ahead of his Premier League debut for the Reds against Manchester City this weekend.

As he showed off his snap with the giant 25-year-old, former Manchester United and Everton man Phil Neville tried to take a cheeky dig at Carragher's allegiances.

Neville referred to the time he visited the Toffees training ground last season - but it turned out Carra was in no mood for taking prisoners.

We all know Carragher and Phil's brother Gary enjoy a bit of banter on Monday Night Football every so often, but that response is absolutely brutal.

The bad blood between Liverpool and Manchester United down the years has been heated to say the least...

It's no secret that, despite being a Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher grew up favouring the blue side of Merseyside, a fact he is regularly reminded of by Everton fans.

Last year, the Sky Sports pundit took a trip into enemy territory for an interview with Romelu Lukaku and surprisingly sported the colours of Everton.

Still, we'd be lying through our teeth if we didn't admit it made us laugh. Well played, Jamie. Well played.
