Cristiano Ronaldo showcased his elite mentality when referee Paolo Valeri blew up too early during Portugal's international friendly against Spain on Wednesday night.

It may have been a meaningless fixture to many but Ronaldo was keen to put on a show at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon, although he didn't manage to find a breakthrough in what turned out to be a far-from-eventful 0-0 draw.

Despite the result, this priceless moment after the half-time whistle was a perfect illustration of his infectious will-to-win mentality.

In footage that has since gone viral on social media, the 35-year-old can be seen gesturing his displeasure at the decision.

With the five-time Ballon d'Or winner clearly agitated when the official ended the first-half earlier than he anticipated, Ronaldo points at the clock behind him before raising his arms in the air.

Portugal's all-time top goalscorer walks away in a strop moments later, as his side went into the dressing room with the scoreline tied at 0-0.

In the friendly against Luis Enrique's side, Ronaldo was also denied a wonderful assist after spraying an inch-perfect ball with the outside of his right boot to teammate Renato Sanches.

Sanches, who now plays his club football with Ligue 1 side Lille after spells at Benfica, Swansea and Bayern Munich, smashed his effort against the crossbar in what would have been a cracking team goal.

Plenty of fans lauded Ronaldo's 'underrated' passing ability in the meantime.
