It takes a huge amount of sacrifice to become the very best, just ask Cristiano Ronaldo who constantly strives for perfection on a game-by-game basis.

Real Madrid's coaching staff performed a series of tests on the 33-year-old's body that show he's got the physical condition of a 23-year old, and there's a reason why he's so athletic for his age.

The man himself has recently claimed that he will carry on playing for another eight years, as he continues to follow a very structured and specific game-day routine.

Business Insider have produced a study on what Ronaldo does before a match to prepare to the best of his ability.

They state that he has eight hours of sleep, which gives him enough time to complete his ab workout before breakfast. Now that is what you call dedication.

Of course he drinks plenty of fluids and eat the right foods, like any football would, but his routine when arriving at the stadium is slightly different.

Wayne Rooney once said that the former Manchester United winger used to look at his own reflection in the mirror to psych himself up.

"In the time I've been playing with Ronnie, the one thing I've noticed about him is that he can't walk past his reflection without admiring it, even if we're about to play a game of football." he said in an interview with GOAL.

"Every match, before the team goes out for the warm-up, he runs through the same routine. The kit goes on, the boots go on. Not long after, Ronnie turns to his reflection and stares, psyching himself up for the game.

"If there's one person with a bigger self-belief than Ronaldo, I haven't met him yet. He's not shy."

You can't knock his routine, though. It was revealed that the 33-year-old's body has a fat content of 7%.

If you compare this to other footballers, the average is around 10 or 11%, according to a report from Spanish publication AS.

Ronaldo also has a muscle mass of 50%, and again, if you compare it again to other professionals, the usual figure doesn't exceed 46%.

What an athlete. Will he go on to play into his 40's?
