Modern day football strikes again. Alexis Sanchez scarves are currently on sale outside Old Trafford, despite the fact he hasn't actually completed a medical yet.

Sanchez waved goodbye to his Arsenal teammates on Friday night after a 'dramatic breakthrough' in the transfer saga and in the late hours, the 29-year-old travelled to Manchester to complete a deal.

Although the transfer does seem to be close, a certain United fan couldn't wait to celebrate the 'new signing':

As you can see in the above footage, Sanchez's face is plastered on each side of the scarf while the words 'United and Chile' accompany his name.

Moments after the images surfaced online, people began to comment on the scarf:

These images come hours after Sanchez received a call to inform him of a 'breakthrough in negotiations' and made the journey up north.

Sanchez was in the squad to face Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, according to The Mirror, but decided to leave for Manchester.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has also said goodbye to Manchester United players and staff on Friday ahead of a proposed move to Arsenal.

The 28-year-old shed a tear on his departure, according to The Daily Mail, as the Alexis Sanchez transfer finally looks to be on the horizon

The report states that 'It was a very tearful' departure as Mkhitaryan was a 'very popular figure' at Manchester United. It then goes on to claim that the Armenian wasn't happy with the way the transfer was handled.

"We know he isn't too happy at the way this deal is been forced upon him." a source said.

"He realises he has more chance of playing at Arsenal, but he would have preferred to leave on his own terms."
