Exclusive footage of Roberto Mancini's team talk before Italy's Euro 2020 final against England has been released where he told the players that they were "masters of our destiny".

Since Mancini's appointment as coach of the Azzurri in 2018, he has revolutionised the side from a team that did not qualify for the World Cup in 2018 to the champions of Europe and now unbeaten in 34 matches which is one match away from the all-time record set by Brazil and Spain.

Before Italy's biggest game since their World Cup final in 2006, Mancini was shown giving a calm and powerful message to his players after naming the lineup and said: "I have nothing more to tell you. You know what you are, we are not here by chance.

"We are the masters of our destiny, you know what you have to do."

During the clip, Mancini also accidentally listed Leonardo Spinazzola who had ruptured his achilles in the quarter-final which caused a few laughs from the squad however the Italy coach quickly corrected his error and announced his replacement Emerson Palmieri.

Mancini's pre-match speech did not overly focus on tactics and showed his skills in man management which lead to Italy's penalty shootout victory over England last Sunday.

Whilst the Italy coach was unable to win a major trophy as a player, he spoke about the emotions of this and how important it was for him to win Euro 2020: "I was very fortunate to play in a great side in 1990 and a terrific under-21 team.

"Despite the fact we were the best team, we didn't win it and lost both times on penalties."

He added: "It was the emotion which happens after achieving something incredible. It was the emotion of seeing the guys celebrate and the fans in the stands," he said.

"Seeing everything we have managed to create, all of the hard work we have put in over the last three years, but specifically the last 50 days which have been very hard.

"It's the fact we have been able to forge this team spirit over the last 50 days, they have really created something which can never be separated going forward. They will always be synonymous with this triumph."
