A fan has blasted Lionel Messi by producing a compilation video to show his underwhelming performance against Napoli in the Champions League.

Barcelona travelled away for the first leg of their round-of-16 tie on Tuesday night and were reduced to 10 men as they managed to scrape a 1-1 draw.

But Barca captain Messi failed to replicate his stunning four-goal performance against Eibar last weekend in the clash at the San Paolo.

Now, a Twitter user has produced a compilation showing the poor passes the 32-year-old Argentine forward made and how many times he lost the ball in possession.

Other fans have been critical of Messi's performance and tweeted out his stats from the match.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner failed to have a single shot on target or complete a successful dribble.

Messi also underperformed in creating opportunities for his teammates and lost possession of the ball an astonishing 15 times.

Napoli shot-stopper David Ospina also embarrassed the Argentina captain in the first half and sent him crashing to the floor.

Dries Mertens opened the scoring for the Italian side in the first half, but Barca forward Antoine Griezmann managed to pull back a second-half equaliser.

Quique Setien's men ended the match with 10 men after Arturo Vidal was sent off late into the second half.

Messi has already snubbed Barcelona's chances of winning the Champions League after naming his favourites to win the competition.

Barcelona will return to action on Sunday as they take on fierce rivals and fellow title challengers Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The second leg of the Champions League tie with Napoli will be held at the Camp Nou on 18th March.
