Football fans have accused Conor Coady of slipping on purpose in the build-up to Liverpool's match winner.

Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 on Thursday to go 16 points clear at the top of the table with Roberto Firmino securing all three points late on.

The Brazilian smashed home from inside the box, but fans pointed out Coady's convenient slip which allowed him to score.

The Wolves captain lost his footing as Firmino unleashed a terrific strike into the back of the net.

Football supporters on social media wasted no time in slamming the former Liverpool youth player for his part in their goal.

"Conor Coady needs investigating that's all too convenient," one social media user wrote.

A second tweeted: "Conor Coady conspires to give his beloved Redmen the win there."

A third added: "Big up to Conor Coady pretending that he didn't let Firmino score aswell."

Liverpool have now gone 40 league games without defeat as they march on at a tremendous pace. Jurgen Klopp's side are 16 points ahead of nearest rivals Manchester City and have a game in hand.

The Reds resume their incredible league campaign next Wednesday when they travel to London to face West Ham United.
