Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was shown a red card after he questioned referee John Beaten at half-time of their Scottish Premiership clash against Livingston on Wednesday night.

In the first-half at the Tony Macaroni Arena, Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos went to ground under a challenge from Max Stryjek and rather controversially, was given a yellow card for diving, despite their appearing to be contact.

A furious Gerrard later decided to approach referee Beaten after the half-time whistle blew and microphones picked up what the former Liverpool captain said.

"I know why you won't speak to me, because you're f*cking bang wrong," Gerrard said. "You're bang out of order."

The 40-year-old was sent to the stands for the second half, where that man Morelos scored a late winner to give Rangers an even bigger lead in the Scottish Premiership title race.

In his post-match interview, Gerrard voiced his frustrations towards Beaton and his officials for making the same mistakes, saying it is "bang out of order."

He explained: "It's 100 per cent a penalty. I'm someone who wants to support officials as much as I can because I realise how hard the job is.

"I'll go with one of the officials making a mistake, a genuine mistake -- but I can't have three making the same mistake.

"John Beaton's looking at it clearly, the linesman's looking at it clearly and the fourth official's looking at it clearly.

"I've got the worse view out of everyone and I can see it clearly.

"I'll go with one mistake and I'll keep trying to do everything I can to support officials but I can't have it when three make the same mistake.

"It's bang out of order."

Gerrard also revealed the Colombian was "dancing topless to Sweet Caroline" after he scored the winner.

Dismissing the idea that Morelos was getting a reputation unfairly, Gerrard told the reporter how the Rangers striker had been celebrating in the dressing room.

"Don't worry about Alfredo, he has just scored the winner and is in there dancing around with no top on to Sweet Caroline. He's fine." Gerrard told Sky Sports.

When he was asked about the playlist for the bus ride back to Glasgow, Gerrard said: "I don't know. We don't usually put the tunes on, we just have some food and get ourselves home.

"But I do like Sweet Caroline after a win."
