Let's start this article with a question: Can anyone be a loyal fan or supporter of two football clubs?
Some believe that the idea you can only support one team and you must stick with them through 'thick and thin' is nothing more than a human desire to categorise everything, while others are absolutely convinced that you should follow one club and one club only.
It remains an interesting debate to this day and a study by the guys over at COPA 90 has somewhat opened our eyes to life as a young football fan in 2018.
Warning, the results may surprise the older generation of hardcore supporters reading this.

The study found that 46% of 16-24 year olds in the UK support at least two teams, while 27% support three or more teams.
It also states that 41% of 16-19 year old's support a team from La Liga, which doesn't exactly surprise me when the likes of Lionel Messi play in Spain - we're just waiting for the recent stats on how many fans now support Juventus after Cristiano Ronaldo made the move to Italy.
It's clear that the current generation are more interested in following their favourite player rather than a specific club and Cristiano Ronaldo is a prime example of t point.

It was revealed by website Tifo that Real Madrid lost one million Twitter followers inside 24 hours of the five-time Balon d'Or winner being announced, which just goes to show how much of a global brand Ronaldo is right now.
Juventus' social media growth has been through the roof on their channels ever since they confirmed the arrival of Ronaldo, with Twitter, Instagram and Facebook numbers increasing dramatically.
