Has it gone too far?

From the day he suffered a broken leg during Manchester United's Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven in September 2015, Luke Shaw's career at Old Trafford has gone from bad to worse.

Jose Mourinho clearly doesn't have faith in the left-back, opting to use the likes of Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian throughout the season, and last night's decision to give Shaw five minutes in the Carabao Cup has angered some United supporters.

Shaw might have been happy to get minutes under his belt, declaring on Twitter that it was 'great to be back on the pitch'.

But many fans were unhappy about the lack of minutes the left-back received.

Mourinho eventually opted for Axel Tuanzebe and Daley Blind in the left-back and left centre-back spots, as Shaw once again found himself on the bench.

Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Ashley Young and Darmian have all tried and failed to hold down the position but the biggest disappointment has been Luke Shaw's inability to live up to his potential.

Or is it the inability for Mourinho to realise his potential?
