Well that escalated quickly.

"Friendly (noun) - a game or match that does not form part of a serious competition."

Sheffield Wednesday took part in one of these 'friendly' games you speak of, and well, it ended in complete and utter chaos, with fists flying in a heated 22-man brawl.

Jos Luhukay's side came up against League Two side Mansfield Town earlier and in the dying embers of the game, forward Fernando Forrestieri produced a nasty challenge on defender Hayden White, which sparked huge scenes.

As you can see in the footage below, stewards and staff had to step in and intervene as tempers flared.

This is the complete opposite of the word friendly, if you ask me.

The FA have now confirmed that they are looking into what happened at the end of last night's friendly between Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield Town, according to BBC Radio Sheffield journalist Rob Staton.

Mansfield eventually come out 2-1 winners but lets be honest, this game will not be remembered for the result.

After the game, Owls manager Luhukay said: "I've never seen anything like that in a friendly. It was short but it was an explosion."

Mansfield manager David Flitcroft later confirmed that midfielder Calum Butcher suffered a cut lip after someone punched him.

"In a pre-season game there are no points to play for (but) you could really feel it boiling over." he said via Yorkshire Post.

"Calum Butcher has a cut lip. He has been punched in the face. You don't want to see scenes like that at any football game but we will get to the bottom of it."
