Diego Simeone was spotted biting his lip and shaking his head in disbelief when former Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann was brought on as a late substitute.

Atletico dealt a major blow to Barcelona's title hopes on Tuesday after securing a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou.

But Griezmann saw little action against his former side after coming on as a 90th-minute substitute for Arturo Vidal.

Now, footage has emerged from the moment that the 29-year-old French forward was about to be subbed on.

And Simeone was in the background shaking his head and biting his lip in shock at Griezmann's late cameo.

The Atletico boss admitted that he was stunned with the former Atletico star's current predicament at Barca after the match.

When asked about Griezmann, the 50-year-old Simeone responded: "I'm without words."

Griezmann was Barcelona's marquee signing last summer after they splashed out a whopping £107m on the World Cup winner.

However, the France international has struggled to become a regular under Barcelona boss Quique Setien.

Even after his transfer to Barcelona, Simeone didn't hold a grudge against Griezmann for ending his five-year stay at Atletico.

During a 2019 interview, the Atletico manager had backed the Barcelona star to succeed at the Camp Nou.

Simeone said on Spanish radio program El Larguero: "He's really happy, obviously he is where he wanted to be. He has talent and he's going to be fine.

"He's a good person, humble, he will know how to enter the group dynamic in the right manner.

"He's a guy that doesn't talk much but gets involved a lot. He will slowly enter the group, step by step, calmly. He's a happy guy, and I don't have doubts he will do well."
