He's been Argentina's number one fan this summer, sat in a box with his friends and absolutely loving life.
Now, he wants to manage a national team that have failed at this summer's tournament.
Maradona caused controversy when he stuck up a finger at fans when Marcos Rojo scored a late winner against Nigeria and his antics throughout have been a major talking point.
But surely if the 57-year-old takes over Jorge Sampaoli's job in the coming weeks, that will be the biggest topic of conversation at the World Cup.
"Yes and I would do it for free, I would not ask for anything in return." he said via AS.
Argentina legend Maradona also spoke about the media label him as a person, saying:
"They think I'm happy but my heart hurts.
"I wish God gave me the strength to return to the field. The years and life go on for everyone and I get to 57 years of age watching my team beaten by a team that I do not think is one of the best at the World Cup. "It makes me feel bad - everything we built with much effort was destroyed very easily."
He also spoke about how Brazil have a great chance of lifting the trophy later this month:
Do you think he would turn things around at the manager of Argentina?
