"Fergie, sign him up, Fergie, Fergie sign him up!" - Manchester United fans wanted Carlos Tevez at Old Trafford on a permanent basis back in 2009, no doubt about it. But it never quite happened. Why?

When Tevez joined the blue side of Manchester, people questioned his bold decision to move from rival to rival. Now, the Argentinian forward has revealed his reasons behind the transfer.

Tevez, who is now back in his homeland Argentina with Boca Juniors, has also lifted the lid on his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former Manchester United forward also explained how the Champions League final in Moscow played a big part in his decision.

The 32-year-old explains he was forced into making a decision when United's promised offer never materialised:

"I went to [Manchester] United for two years on loan, and in the final year Ferguson told me that they were going to buy me permanently. We got to the Champions League final in Rome and I didn't have any contract on the table, even though they'd spent the whole year telling me that.

So I went to City and they complained about it but I never had the option of signing for United so I was free. With Ferguson nothing bad happened, it was a normal relationship."

The question is, would Carlos Tevez still be at Old Trafford if he signed for the Reds on a permanent deal in 2009?

Who knows.
