He moved to Arsenal in 2008 and became a huge fan favourite with his dazzling displays in midfield.

The talented Frenchman bagged 15 goals the season prior to signing for Man City, where he continued to enhance his reputation as an attacking maestro.

He helped the Blues win two league titles, scoring brilliant goals including a stunning strike against cross-town rivals Manchester United.

The video below, titled; Samir Nasri - Street's Won't Forget - shows how good he was during his heyday.

From silky dribbling to superb goals. His time at Arsenal and Man City won't be forgotten.

Naturally, Nasri's best bits got fans reminiscing online.

One Twitter user wrote: "Him under Pep in a midfield 3 could have been beautiful. He never lost the ball but always lacked consistency."

A second tweeted: "This dude was a stone cold killer. It's a shame he didn't get a second chance with Pep at City."

A third added: "Samir Nasri was top top class. Ball control and dribbling was next level."

Another wrote: "Such a magical baller, I'd do anything to rewatch him in Arsenal-City days all over again."

In the summer of 2016, Nasri swapped Man City for Sevilla after a glorious spell in England's top flight.

He went onto play for Antalyaspor in Turkey before returning to the Premier League in the shape of a short-term deal at West Ham.

Nasri was a free agent following his release by Anderlecht but on Sunday, he decided to officially hang up his boots.
