A clip of Virgil van Dijk brilliantly chasing down Erling Haaland has gone viral following the Norwegian starlet signing for Borussia Dortmund.

His transfer sparked debate on social media with a United fan claiming to be happy that his side didn't sign Haaland by referencing his showing against Liverpool's Van Dijk in the Champions League.
@RiZzyUTD shared a video of Van Dijk catching up with Haaland, accompanied with the words: "I am honestly so happy we missed out on this donkey. We dodged a major bullet negl."
His tweet sent social media into overdrive with fans of Haaland sticking up for the teenage phenom.

A second tweeted: "Viking lukaku."
A third added: "Van Dijk was already sprinting when Haaland started running. Nothing wrong with this just because his running isn't aesthetically pleasing."

Borussia Dortmund have officially signed Haaland from RB Salzburg after paying his release clause of £19.2 million.

He's signed a contract until June 30, 2024, while Salzburg will receive a percentage of any future sale.
Haaland has scored 16 goals in 14 games in Austria's top flight this season and a further eight goals in the Champions League.
