Christian Eriksen received CPR on the pitch after collapsing during Denmark's European Championship opener against Finland on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half of the Group B clash, the Inter Milan midfielder fell to the ground and medics quickly attended the scene before performing chest compressions in a bid to resuscitate the 29-year-old.

Denmark players, clearly in a huge amount of distress, formed a barrier around the player as medics continued to work on Eriksen.

The midfielder was taken off on a stretcher after needing medical attention for about 10 minutes.

Eriksen's wife, Sabrina, was seen on the sidelines as she was consoled by teammates Simon Kjaer and Kasper Schmeichel.

It has been confirmed by UEFA that the game in Copenhagen has been suspended due to a medical emergency.

Following the medical emergency, a crisis meeting was held between both teams and match officials. Further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

UEFA has confirmed that the player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.

The Danish FA have also confirmed that Eriksen is awake and will undergo further examinations at Rigshospitalet.
