Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro decided to 'get his revenge' on James Milner during Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final clash against Liverpool - and the clip has since gone viral on social media.

In a fiesty first-half at Anfield last night, Los Blancos striker Karim Benzema was lucky to escape without any serious injury when the experienced Milner made contact with the Frenchman's ankle.

To the surprise of many, the shocking challenge went unpunished but minutes later, Benzema's teammate Casemiro saw an opportunity to make his mark on Milner near the touchline.

He clattered the Englishman with a lunging tackle before squaring up to a furious Andy Robertson.

The incident eventually went to VAR and the Brazilian was fortunate not to be sent off, instead receiving just a yellow card.

As you can see from the above, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was spotted smiling in the background as the likes of Jurgen Klopp and his members of staff fumed at Casemiro's actions.

Robertson, meanwhile, was booked for his part in the heated confrontation.

There was plenty of reaction on the incident from social media both during and after the game.

Real Madrid went on to defend their 3-1 first-leg lead at Anfield as Liverpool struggled to convert their chances.

Los Blancos will now face Premier League side Chelsea in the semi-final, where Eden Hazard will return to Stamford Bridge in what is sure to be an entertaining two-legged tie.

Can Zinedine Zidane's side win the Champions League again this season?
