Titus Bramble's 08/09 Stats Were 'Better' Than Both Van Dijk And Vidic
The debate between Nemanja Vidic of 2008/09 and Virgil van Dijk of 2018/19 is a waste of time as we present you with the figures of Titus Bramble in 2008/09.
Liverpool's Van Dijk enjoyed a superb season this past campaign as he won the PFA Players' Player of the Year. His commanding performances at the back has led people comparing him to Vidic, who was impregnable for Manchester United in the 2008/09 season.
However, if we're judging these men on statistics then Bramble needs a mention.
The former Ipswich Town, Newcastle United and Sunderland defender had the best season of his Premier League career at Wigan Athletic.
Here's how his numbers from the 2008/09 campaign compares to both Vidic and Van Dijk:
Sure, Bramble didn't keep as many clean sheets as Vidic and Van Dijk, but he produced more interceptions, tackles and clearances than his defensive counterparts.
He also had more headed clearances and blocks than Vidic and Van Dijk.
On the left we have Van Dijk (18/19) vs Vidic (08/09).
On the right Titus Bramble vs Vidic (both 08/09).
Judging by these numbers all I can assume is that, not only is Vidic better than VVD, but Bramble is better than the pair of them.
