Gareth Bale scored two goals to rescue a point for Real Madrid against Villarreal and then got sent off in the last minute of the La Liga clash.

Zinedine Zidane started Bale in attack despite a summer of uncertainty regarding his future, but the Welshman produced. He bagged a brace to secure a point for his side as Real Madrid drew 2-2 with Villarreal.

But his night ended on a sour note after he was shown a red card deep, deep into stoppage time for two bookable offences.

His Real Madrid outing was the talk of the game. Here's some reaction from social media:

Bale scored his first league goal since mid-March after tapping in from close range in the first-half. He then netted another in the 86th minute after finding the bottom corner with a sweet left-footed strike.

He then received his marching orders in the 94th minute after picking up two yellow cards inside a couple of minutes.
