Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has left Arsenal fans scratching their heads following his words on former teammate Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere, 26, is officially leaving Arsenal once his contract expires. His association with the North London outfit will come to an emotional end after 17 years at the club.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain has become the latest player to weigh in on the midfielder.

The Southampton youth graduate enjoyed a brilliant campaign at Liverpool last season following his transfer away from Arsenal, and he's reacted to Wilshere departing the Gunners.

"I've got every respect for Wilshere, he's a fantastic footballer, one of the best I've played with," he told talkSPORT.

Oxlade-Chamberlain added: "I wish him all the very best for whatever he does next, and I have every faith that he will make it work and he'll do well.

"He's a top, top player, he can play at any team in the world, he's got that sort of ability. He's played for Arsenal all his life - they are a massive club and he's always shown he has the ability to play there.

"He's a top player and he can definitely play at the highest level, wherever that may be."

'He can play at any team in the world'. Bold statement.

Arsenal fans were quick to jump on his thoughts. Here's how some of them reacted:

He's been linked with a host of clubs since confirming his Arsenal departure.

We're talking Premier League side West Ham not to mention a sensational switch to fallen European giants AC Milan.
