Raphael Varane to Manchester United could be on the cards this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly considering selling the French defender.

According to El Confidencial, Real are willing to let Varane and a number of players leave this summer. James Rodriguez, Jese Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata could also be on the move.

Varane, currently nursing a thigh injury that ruled him out of playing in Euro 2016 on home soil, has slipped down the pecking order in the Real Madrid backline - Pepe and Sergio Ramos are the first-choice central defenders for Los Blancos.

That could open the door for a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils are in need of a world-class defender, despite already signing one player from La Liga this summer in Villarreal's Eric Bailly.

Jose Mourinho worked with him for three years at the Bernabeu and helped him become one of Europe's very best young defenders. The new United manager is understood to be a huge supporter of the 23-year old's talents and could call upon him for his second defensive signing of the summer.
