Sergio Ramos has responded to rumours of José Mourinho returning to Real Madrid after his recent sacking from Manchester United.
The 55-year-old Portuguese manager's third season in charge at Old Trafford left the club falling out of a top-four spot in the Premier League, with the club pulling the plug on his time at the Red Devils and appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjær as a caretaker manager.
With the Special One now a free agent, it has already been reported that three European clubs are interested in signing him. Of course, one of those clubs is apparently Los Blancos.
However, the 32-year-old Madrid captain is not thinking about a reunion with the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss.
"People need to show more respect to the coach we have now," he said (via BBC Sport).
"Mourinho left us five years ago, yet everyone keeps talking about him."
Speaking ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup final against Al Ain, Madrid boss Santiago Solari echoed similar sentiments to Ramos about the club's success in the post-Mourinho era.
"It would be exceptional to win a third consecutive Club World Cup and a great achievement," he said (via Football Espana).
"It'll [be] complicated to repeat and it's a huge responsibility for us. It's impossible to win the Champions for the next 200 years because this is football.
"However, I think it's difficult to give the right value to what Madrid have achieved in the last five years.
"It's in the club's tradition to look forward, but we can't forget the excellence of this past year.
"It's extraordinary and we'll try to go one step further on Saturday. If Madrid have won so much, it's because they focus and put all their energy into finals.
"What concerns me is that we're involved on all fronts. That's what matters most to me."
