Pep Guardiola has brilliantly reacted to pundits comparing Mohamed Salah to Lionel Messi.

The Egyptian hero has been in truly scintillating form for Liverpool following his £34 million transfer from AS Roma, in the summer.

Goals, assists, and more goals, in the Premier League, not to mention the Champions League, has the footballing community hailing Salah as the signing of the summer.

Some have even compared his heroics to that of the Barcelona magician.

On 'Match of the Day', Ian Wright waxed lyrical saying: "He reminds me of Messi, the scampering way he plays, he has a Messi vibe."

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness also echoed 'Wrighty's' assessment. "If you think of Lionel Messi, Messi's constantly touching it, open a defender or dangle a leg and he's away."

"You see him (Salah) in that change of direction where he's got great balance, it's also about core strength and leg strength to be able to change your balance and wrong foot people," the Liverpool hero added.

While Jamie Redknapp said: "It is Messi-esque what he's doing there. I'm not putting him on the same level, but the way he's got that low-centre of gravity and is so strong, you can't move him.

Though ahead of Guardiola taking his charges to Anfield for the Super Sunday clash, he responded to such claim, laughing off the comparison.

"A lot of respect for Salah. But while I respect a lot, I'll help him by telling him to try to avoid being compared with the other guy," he said.
