Sky Sports are set to get rid of Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5!!!!! But maybe don't panic because they're literally just getting rid of the numbers and replacing them with the names of the sports that'll be on.

Generally speaking it's pretty easy to remember that Sky Sports 1 is going to have 'Super Sunday' on, even when the 'Super' is describing the exciting double of Stoke City vs Watford and West Brom vs Huddersfield, no offence to those four sides.

But Sky want to get rid of any confusion as you can't remember what channel something is on. Going forward if you want to watch football you'll be switching on Sky Football channel, the bit about remembering what number on the remote will take you there is your job.

To follow on from Sky Formula One the pay for subscription service will have 'Football', 1 & 2, 'Cricket' and 'Golf.' For those fans of rugby, fishing and wrestling there will be 'Sky Sports Arena', where all other sports will be housed.

But it's not just for aesthetics, or so you'll never struggle to remember what channel Monday Night Football is on, because the revamp could save customers lots of money as the cheapest Sky Sports package will now be £18-a-month rather than the current £49.50.

Of course buying all the channels will still be a costly venture but at least people will have the option to purchase different amount of sports depending what they actually want to watch.

Sky Sports Mix channel, which offers coverage of sports to their non sport subscribing customers, will continue to be available.

Sky's viewing figures are down for sport but they are across the board with less people watching Match of the Day too and people digesting their viewing in different ways.

Richard Broughton, a director at Ampere Analysis told the Guardian about the reasons for the change in structure saying, "In part it could be a response to the ongoing question of viewing numbers to traditional pay-TV sport.

"There is also a demographic shift where people, especially younger groups, are reluctant to spend so much. Get reluctant to spend groups, such as millennials, in on cheap packages and look to up-sell at a later date."

Which channels would you buy?
