We've been pretty blessed this summer what with the excellent World Cup and the kind of heatwave that has drained our wallets with more trips to the beer gardens than we've ever been used to previously.
However that doesn't mean that we haven't missed the Premier League and domestic football all round, especially since France lifted the World Cup over three week ago, but England's top tier is nearly back.
This weekend served us an aperitif with the Championship starting and Manchester City picking up where they left off by beating Chelsea in the Community Shield but this week things get even better.

Sunday threatens to have the game of the weekend though as Unai Emery's first game in charge of Arsenal is against reigning champions Manchester City at the Emirates, whilst Liverpool face West Ham and Southampton host Burnley.
If European football is more your flavour though Sunday has a couple of tasty affairs with Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich in the DFL Supercup and Barcelona vs Sevilla in the Spanish Supercopa to end the weekend.
Away from teams actually playing football it will be a very busy couple of days off the pitch in England too with the transfer window closing on Thursday afternoon.
