Ander Herrera has taken to social media to mock his friend and former teammate Marcos Rojo, after the Boca Juniors players was involved in a clash with police on Tuesday night.

Boca's elimination from the Copa Libertadores was met with ugly scenes, after they lost on penalties to Atletico Mineiro.

Players from the Argentinian side were unhappy at a VAR decision earlier in the game and eight members of the club's delegation were arrested after clashes with police and security in the ground.

Amongst them was Rojo who was seen in two separate videos in a scuffle with security and later picking up a fire extinguisher, and looking like he was going to throw it.

The defender's former United teammate Herrera took to social media to post a picture of the pair together but he'd edited in the Argentine's weapon of choice.

Rojo was the only Boca player to score in the shoot-out, after both legs of the last 16 match finished 0-0, with former Brazil international Hulk missing the first spot kick for Mineiro.

The visitors then missed three penalties in-a-row and the Brazilians scored three of their next four to make it 3-1 and qualify for the quarter finals.

Things really heated up after the match though as the Boca players tried to get into the Mineiro dressing room following altercations.

Police used pepper spray as eight of the away sides delegation were reportedly detained.

Speaking after the incidents, Boca vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme defended his players saying, "Of course the players were going to defend themselves if they had pepper spray thrown on their faces."

The former Boca midfielder then claimed that Atletico president Sergio Coelho had thrown bottles at the players.

Both clubs are expected to face some punishment but no official statement has been made yet.
