The Premier League team of the season so far has been revealed by stats website WhoScored.

Players are given ratings each game based on a number of different areas and the data has been collated to put together the division's best XI based on overall marks this term.

In goal, perhaps surprisingly, is Newcastle United's goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Of all those to have made a considerable amount of appearances, the 30-year-old has been the best performing goalkeeper when it comes to statistics, with his 7.1 rating better than the likes of Hugo Lloris, Nick Pope and Kasper Schmeichel.

The backline is dominated by Chelsea, with Blues trio Reece James (7.1), Ben Chilwell (7.4) and Kurt Zouma (7.3) joined by towering Southampton centre-back Jan Vestergaard (7.3)

Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne are by far the two best playmakers in the Premier League and it's no surprise to see the pair partner one another in the middle of the park.

Fernandes, who has nine goals and five assists in 1037 minutes of league football this season, has been given a 7.6 rating - slightly better than De Bruyne's 7.5.

Meanwhile, the division's top scorer Mo Salah slots in on the right flank - his 13 goals and three assists giving him an overall score of 7.7.

But statistically, as per WhoScored, it's Aston Villa captain and talisman Jack Grealish who has been the best player as we head in 2021.

The England international has received an 8.0 rating for his impressive displays, which have seen him score five and set up six.

Three Lions skipper Harry Kane is second to Grealish, having been rated 7.9 after contributing to 19 goals this season - nine goals and ten assists.

Continuing the England-heavy attack, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been in fine form for high-flying Everton and his 11-goal season sees him slot in up top alongside Kane thanks to a 7.5 mark.
