Premier League Player Of The Season Nominees Revealed

Premier League Player Of The Season Nominees Revealed

It's another award...

You might think that it's nice that the PFA Player of the Year went to Riyad Mahrez and the Football Writer's award went to Jamie Vardy meaning that everything has been shared around. However one of them might be about to go ahead in the gloating stakes as there is one award left.

Mahrez picked up the trophy voted for by his fellow players, meaning he must have been the most difficult player to play against, whilst Vardy won the award voted for by journalists, meaning he was the player who gave them the best stories. That all seems pretty much spot on actually to be honest so well done everyone.

However there is still one more award to give away and that's the Barclays Premier League Player of the Season. Of course we assumed that two awards was enough already but assume this one is picked based on who ever uses cash machines most efficiently or something.

Anyway the nominations have been released an unsurprisingly they're pretty Leicester and Spurs heavy:

Harry Kane

With 25 goals this season Kane's in the driving seat to win the Golden Boot with relegated Newcastle United to play on the last day of the season.

Dimitri Payet

West Ham's free kick taking machine has had a brilliant debut season in the Premier League and most likely booked himself a place in France's incredible Euro 2016 squad.

Wes Morgan

If nothing shows how incredible Leicester's title win is it's the fact that Wes Morgan is a Premier League winner. The captain has been faultless all season.

Jamie Vardy

Something about him having a party. Already one award down and the record for most consecutive games scored in after beating Ruud van Nistelrooy's record against Manchester United, poetic.

Riyad Mahrez

Arch enemy to Vardy's trophy cabinet. The Algerian has been incredible all season and was the first African to win the PFA Player of the year Award, will he pick this one up too?

N'Golo Kante

Presumably him and his twin will share the award. As scout Steve Walsh said they play three in midfield, Danny Drinkwater with Kante either side. The human juggernaut could be the third Leicester player to be player of the year.

Mesut Ozil

Started the season in incredible form and basically assisted every goal scored in the first half of the season but like with his club tailed off towards the end. Still with a competent striker he'd have loads more assists.

Dele Alli

£5 million from Milton Keynes and his debut season in the top league and yet he looks like he's been there for years. Potential goal of the season winner after his strike against Crystal Palace. What a player he could go on to be.

Kasper Schmeichel

Pete's son did something a little special this season helping the Foxes to the league. The Dane has been incredible all year and lived up to the family reputation of being a little good, no pressure on his son Max then.

Toby Alderweireld

How happy Spurs must be that they managed to get the former Southampton loanee from Atletico Madrid. The Belgian has been solid and brilliant in central defence as Pochettino's side put together a very difficult to break down defence.

Who do you think should win?
