Portsmouth have opened an investigation after a chat, allegedly involving some of their under 18 players, was leaked on social media in which they racially abused three England players.

Screenshots of a conversation on Snapchat started going around social media on Wednesday morning, which included some awful racist abuse towards Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho.

The trio all missed penalties in England's Euro 2020 final loss to Italy on Sunday, and have been on the receiving end of abuse since.

The screenshots, allegedly sent by Pompey youth players, referred to Rashford being 'lynched,' used the N word on several occasions, threatened to bomb the trio and used the monkey emoji.

The conversation was titled 'U18' and people on Twitter have lined up the names of those in the conversation with certain players.

"Portsmouth Football Club are aware of images circulating on social media that allegedly originate from an academy u18 group chat and which are discriminatory in nature," the club said in a statement.

"The club have launched an immediate investigation and will provide an update once this has been completed.

"Portsmouth Football Club strongly condemn racism and are totally committed to the elimination of all forms of discrimination. There is no place for it in our game or society as a whole."

As well as the racist abuse on social media, Rashford also saw his mural in Manchester defaced less than an hour after the game an an MP even questioned if he should be spending more time on football than politics.
