High praise indeed.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke glowingly of his midfielder Mousa Dembele in his press conference - calling him a "genius" and going as far as saying that he would put him right next to the three best players he played with during his career.

The former Fulham man has been viewed by one of the best midfielders in the league by many but his recent performances in games against Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus have seen his praises sung even more.

Blessed with technical ability and almost innate strength on the ball, Dembele bossed all three of the aforementioned games.

And when Pochettino was quizzed about him in his presser ahead of the trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday, he put him in the same league as Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona and Jay Jay Okocha - three of his former teammates.

The Argentine played with the legendary Maradona in his time at Newell's Old Boys in his homeland, with the two at opposite ends of their career.

During his time at Paris-Saint Germain, he played in the same side as Ronaldinho and Jay Jay Okocha, two of the most gifted and entertaining players to watch play the game.

And though Dembele is associated with a deeper role, particularly in his time at Spurs, Pochettino believes he is on par with Ronaldinho and co.

"I have said before that he is a genius of football. I put him next to Maradona, Ronaldinho, Jay Jay Okocha," he is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

"I think for me is one of the unbelievable talents in the history of football. Of course always for him it was difficult to get fit, he always fits with his fitness. But now he is in an amazing moment and for me he deserves all the praises that people are giving him."
