Swedish Player Requires Medical Treatment After Being Accidentally Poked In The Eye During Substitution

That's what you call an instant impact. Literally.

When Swedish outfit Degerfors replaced Axel Lindahl with Mattias Ozgun late on in their 1-1 draw with Oster in the second tier last night, they were obviously looking for an instant impact.

They got it but not exactly in the way they had hoped or anticipated. During the high-five with Lindahl as he anxiously waited to dart on the pitch, Ozgun was accidentally poked in the eye by his own teammate.

He needed treatment from the physio and so ended up leaving the field of play almost immediately in the football version of the Grampa Simpson walking in out of the house meme.

Ozgun was able to play the remaining minutes off the game and the two posted for a comical picture remake after the game, with Lindahl also apologising on Instagram.

21-year old Ozgun, who is on loan from Elfsborg said he "couldn't see anything" after the freak accident but confirmed he accepted the apology.

However, he did also tell SPORTbible he will "definitely" be extra careful the next time he comes on as a sub.
