Gerard Pique picked up a controversial yellow card in Barcelona's 4-0 win over Sevilla and fans think the centre-back got cautioned on purpose.

With the Blaugrana completely cruising in the second half at the Nou Camp, Pique was booked for kicking the ball away in the 85th minute by referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz.

It was his fifth yellow card of the season and means he will miss the trip to Eibar on 19 October once the international break is over. But in picking up a yellow and earning a one-game suspension last night, Pique will now be free to play against Real Madrid in El Clasico on 26 October.

Barcelona will also be without a further two first-teamers for their next game, however, as 20-year old Ronald Araujo was sent off in his debut mere minutes after Pique went into the book - before Ousmane Dembele was shown a second yellow for reportedly telling the referee, "You are very bad" and waving his hands in protest at the official.

Last season, Pique's long-time centre-back partner Sergio Ramos was given a two-match ban by UEFA for "clearly receiving a yellow card on purpose" against Ajax.

Ramos was one yellow card away from a European suspension and blatantly fouled Kasper Dolberg in the closing stages of a 2-1 win. His antics backfired big-time though, with Real not even progressing to the quarter finals after being thumped 4-1 in the second leg at the Bernabeu.
