Philippe Coutinho has enjoyed a superb World Cup, thus far. And his impressive statistics echo that sentiment.

Brazil entered the World Cup as tournament favourites. The five-time winners pinned their hopes on Neymar to mastermind another triumph on the world stage.

But with all eyes locked on Neymar, Coutinho has flown under the radar producing heroics for Brazil who have secured passage to the next round.

He's already chipped in with goals and assists while pulling the strings in midfield.

The Barcelona ace has a 91% passing accuracy not to mention completing 10 key passes.

Also weighing in with two goals, including a stunning strike vs. Switzerland, and an assist.

A great start.

Coutinho's performances has garnered praise from ex-Selecao ace Roberto Carlos who loves watching him play, and believes he's become a massive player for the national team.

"I love watching that guy play. He's brilliant on the ball, obviously, but he's clever off it, too, taking up good positions," he said.

Carlos added: "Everyone speaks about Neymar, but Coutinho is proving that he's also a massive player for Brazil too.

"When all the defenders focus on Neymar, he pops up and decides matches."

Brazil enter the knockout round undefeated (two wins and one draw) ahead of facing Mexico for a spot in the quarter-finals.
