A petition for the UK to get a bank holiday on Monday if England win the Euro 2020 final has already collected over 40,000 signatures.

The petition is named: "Give the UK a Bank Holiday on Monday July 12th if England win Euro 2020."

The description explained: "England may be playing a European Championship Final [sic] at 8pm on Sunday 11th July.

"It would be beneficial and sensible to give the country the day off the next day if England win, in the form of an extra Bank Holiday Monday."

Because the petition already reached well over 20,000 signatures, it means the government must reply to it. If the petition can pass 100,000 signatures, then Parliament will consider it for debate in the House of Commons.

England reached their first major final since 1966 as they beat Denmark 2-1 at Wembley on Wednesday in front of 60,000 fans.

The country already seems as though it's gone mad, but can you imagine the scenes if England win the tournament? There would certainly be a lot of people calling in sick on Monday morning.

As easy as it is to get carried away, England still have a major roadblock in their way in Italy, who are 33 games unbeaten and have arguably been the best team in the tournament.

At least if we all do have to go to work on Monday morning with a blistering hangover, then we'll all have had an eventful night before, hopefully.

Whatever happens Sunday night, it's expected to be a night to remember.

This England team and coaching staff have not only given the entire country hope, but they stood as role models for what representing your country should look like.
