Paris Saint-Germain are actively exploring the possibility of signing Lionel Messi in the summer.

PSG star Neymar recently dropped a bombshell when he revealed his desire of playing with Messi again in an interview following the 3-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

And he's not the only individual within the French club who wants the six-time Ballon d'Or winner in Paris.

Writing for ESPN, French journalist Julien Laurens says PSG discussed signing him in the summer when he was desperate to leave Barca but ultimately stayed put after quite the saga.

Their interest remains, however, and they are looking at ways in which they could pull off the sensational free transfer next summer.

Neymar and Messi, along with Luis Suarez, were unplayable together at Barcelona and the deadly 'MSN' trio still communicate in a WhatsApp chat.

Messi is also close with PSG's Argentine duo Leandro Paredes and Angel Di Maria, while he knows Brazilian Rafinha from their time as teammates at the Nou Camp.

Yesterday, Daniel Riolo of RMC Sport on Thursday evening stated that Messi will be a PSG player next season and that he is "very serious" about it happening.

Messi's contract expires in June 2021 and still unhappy at Barca, he is free to speak with clubs in January regarding a free transfer in the following window.

The real issue for PSG will be Messi's wages. He earns a ridiculous €60 million per year at Barcelona, considerably higher than Neymar's €36 million yearly pay packet at the Parc des Princes.
