A bets, a bet.

A non-league footballer by the name of Alain Bulteel made a promise that he'd get N'Golo Kante's face tattooed on his back if France won the World Cup.

The French left-back, who plays for US Niederbronn while also working as a landscape gardener, told his mates he'd go under the needle if France go all the way.

And the diminutive midfielder starred for France as the 'Les Bleus' recorded their second World Cup triumph following heroics in Russia.

Didier Deschamps' side beat Croatia in the final to raise gold, with Bulteel sticking to his word by getting a hilarious tattoo of the Chelsea star.

While Bulteel is no stranger to mischief, he's admitted that this stunt is his craziest one yet.

"I often make bets with my friends, but this is the craziest one yet. When you bet and lose you have to settle up," he said.

Why Kante?

Well, because of his beaming smile of course.

Bulteel added: "I chose Kante because of his smile, shyness, modesty and amazing record. This is a proper tattoo that will stay with me for life."

Marina Blache-Lebrument, who inked up the footballer, said: "It took three and a half hours to do, but I'm delighted with the result. It's magnificent."
