It would be a club record fee if they pulled it off.

Given they are in the automatic promotion positions and the fact that Huddersfield are ten points behind them, albeit with a game in hand, Newcastle United look good value to be back in the Premier League by next season.

Whenever The Magpies' are relegated to the Championship, they seem to come back up almost immediately at the first time of asking and it again looks to be the case this season.

But in order to remain in the Premier League and not continue the tradition of 'yo-yoing' up and down, Newcastle will need a few new additions.

Should they get there, they'll probably hope for a better standard of refereeing in the Premier League than what they came up against in the Championship a couple of weeks back:

And it appears as though they are looking at bringing in an in-demand striker.

According to Steve Bates from The Mirror, Newcastle are one of many clubs keen on Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose.

The Brazilian, who had a brief spell at Real Madrid in 2014, has scored 12 goals in all competitions for the Basque side this season, as well as chipping in with three assists.

His impressive form, which has helped Sociedad to sixth place in La Liga, has attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Premier League sides Watford, Southampton and Everton are said to be keeping tabs, with the latter having a representative watch the Brazilian in action against Atletico Madrid over a week ago.

He won't come on the cheap though, with a price tag of £27 million being quoted for the 25-year old.

That means that if Newcastle are back in the big time when the summer window rolls around and they want to sign him, they would have to pay a club record fee.

They previously paid £16 million to bring Michael Owen back to England from Real Madrid in 2005.
