Morgan Schneiderlin's New Everton Squad Number Is Just Plain Wrong

Morgan Schneiderlin's New Everton Squad Number Is Just Plain Wrong

A true football crime.

Morgan Schneiderlin is now officially an Everton player after long negotiations with Manchester United, but Toffees fans hoping to get his name on the back of their shirt might be put off by his new squad number.

The France international moves to Goodison Park after just 18 months at United with a fee in the region of £22 million agreed between both clubs, and he'll go straight into Ronald Koeman's squad for the Premier League clash with Man City on Sunday.

But it has been revealed that Schneiderlin will take to the pitch with the number two on his back - something we find completely unacceptable for a central midfield player.

OK, we accept it doesn't really matter at the end of the day, but number two?! Surely that's a right-back or, at a push, a centre-back?

A centre mid wearing a squad number like that just doesn't feel right, or is it just us?

Personally, we feel the FA should deal with this important issue and quickly introduce rules to stop silly squad numbers in the Premier League ASAP.
