It might only be pre-season training but Mo Salah is competitive as ever.

The Liverpool star was incredibly frustrated in a recent session after seeing defender Joel Matip waltz through and score in a small-sided game.

The Cameroonian international returned to training after a lengthy lay-off and looked incredibly sharp, scoring a couple of fine solo goals.

But Salah was not happy with the first goal from the former Schalke man. After Matip squeezed a strike through the legs of new signing Ibrahim Konate and into the bottom corner, the Egyptian threw his hands in the air in disgust.

As Matip trotted back into position, Salah could be seen looking fuming. He turned away, had a tug on his bib and had a mini-strop.

The centre-back got the better of Konate again in a second clip, skipping past him before slotting home with his left foot.

Liverpool have been in Salzburg, Austria for a pre-season training camp and Matip, who suffered an ankle ligament injury in January, has been enjoying being back in the groove.

"I'm feeling good. It's nice to be back in training with the lads and to just be playing, playing [with] the ball and being active," he told Liverpool's official website.

"I feel really good at the moment. I have a lot of sessions ahead of me but I am feeling good and I hope to continue like this.

"Training camps are always intense but for these moments we are here and these belong to pre-season and we try to enjoy it."

Jurgen Klopp's side will take on Bundesliga sides Mainz and Hertha Berlin in pre-season friendlies in Austria as they gear up for the new Premier League campaign.
