Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from the Champions League with Juventus has got everyone talking, including his fierce rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo failed to reach the Champions League semi-final for the first time since 2010.

Juventus were dumped out of Europe's elite club competition by Ajax who inflicted a 3-2 aggregate victory over their Italian counterparts.

That's despite Ronaldo's best efforts. He opened the scoring in Turin to make it 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.

However, the Dutch outfit came from one down to secure a spot in the last four after goals from Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt.

Ajax sprung a huge upset and that tells you everything about the Champions League. Well, that's according to Messi.

"That tells you everything [about the competition]," the Barcelona skipper said about Juventus' elimination from the Champions League.

"Any team is complicated, be it Liverpool or Porto [who Barcelona will face in the last four].

"There are those who deserve, the best, and everything is going to be complicated."

Messi, on the other hand, steered Barcelona to the last four after producing a masterful performance at the Camp Nou.

He bagged a first-half brace, with Philippe Coutinho also getting on the score-sheet, as Barcelona secured a 4-0 aggregate victory over Manchester United.

The Argentine maestro now has a remarkable 45 goals to his name this season.

What's more, he's now scored 24 Champions League goals versus English opposition.

He's bagged nine goals against Arsenal, six versus Manchester City and four past Manchester United.

However, he's yet to score against Liverpool though he could've the chance to break his duck versus them in the next round.

Barcelona are still fighting on three fronts this term. They've pretty much wrapped up La Liga and they're in the final of the Copa del Rey, with Liverpool or Porto the team they must beat to reach the Champions League final.

Will the Catalan giants complete the treble?
