Lionel Messi reportedly has five conditions that he wishes to be met if he is to sign a new contract at Barcelona.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has been extremely unhappy for a while now and was desperate to leave the Blaugrana in the summer, even putting in a transfer request and refusing to turn up for pre-season training before reluctantly agreeing to stay put.

The Barcelona skipper is in the final year of his contract and despite president and Messi's enemy Josep Maria Bartomeu recently resigning, a difficult start to the season hasn't improved his mood all that much.

And according to MARCA, there are a number of crucial factors in Messi committing his future and remaining a one-club man.

For starters, his own performances, coupled with the team's form, is central to him sticking around.

Barcelona are currently eighth in La Liga after taking 11 points from seven games this term, while he only scored his first goal from open play after coming off the bench in the much-needed 5-2 win over Real Betis at the weekend.

His relationship with new manager Ronald Koeman is said to be a positive one but Messi wants to know what the plan is in regards to the head coach and the sporting director.

Messi had a war of words with his former teammate Eric Abidal during his time in the role prior to him being replaced by Ramon Planes in the summer.

Having been incredibly critical of the manner in which his close friend Luis Suarez was pushed out, the 33-year-old wants assurances over the transfer policy after a bizarre and thoughtless approach in recent years.

That strategy will of course be driven by whoever is elected as new Barcelona president at the start of 2021.

His rapport with Bartomeu was so fractured and so it for him to remain at the Nou Camp, it's of huge importance that the same does not happen with the future replacement.
