He was even thinking of getting new ones until he scored on Sunday.

Matt Ritchie really likes sausage rolls.

So much so he's got them plastered across his shinpads.

The Newcastle United winger bagged the only goal of the game on 'Super Sunday', beating Manchester United 1-0 to move out of the relegation zone.

Not a bad time to score your first goal of the Premier League campaign.

And after sending the home fans happy, Ritchie revealed his brilliant shinpads.

He's been donning them all season.

Ritchie wasn't alone.

While it ain't no sausage roll, Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had Dragon Ball Z's Goku on his shinpads during the North London derby.

Meanwhile, after recording a famous victory over Jose Mourinho, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez highlighted his teams effort, while claiming a bit of luck went their way.

"We worked as hard as other games, but against a team like Manchester United every ball is important, they can punish you, so you work like them. Amazing effort," he told BBC.

"They are dangerous, but the teamwork we showed to fight for every ball was amazing. I am pleased for the players and the fans. Because we won here at home.

"We had games in past when conceded late. We got lucky with some shots, but we showed the character, the commitment and the desire today.

Next up for Newcastle; the Matt Ritchie derby - away at Bournemouth.
