Southampton legend Matt le Tissier is the latest footballer to come forward and admit he was sexually abused by a football coach.

One club man Le Tiss, who now works for Sky Sports as a pundit as well as starting an agency, is the highest profile name of those who have come forward in the wake of Andy Woodward confession that he was sexually abused.

The Sun on Sunday reported that former Southampton youth coach Bob Higgins had been named by former youth players on the south coast to police for sexual abuse.

And according to BBC reporter Emma Vardy, who works as Home Affairs correspondent for BBC South, the former footballer confirmed what he had received graphic images from Higgins when he was a young player:

63 year old Higgins has apparently denied any of the allegations but according to The Sun at least seven former players have come forward to the Hampshire police and named the former coach.

Apparently in 1997 the coach was the subject of a letter sent to youth groups and schools by Hampshire's social services warning that he was "considered a risk to children" and to alert them or the police if he approached them to recruit players.

The former youth coach is credited with finding the likes of Le Tissier and the Premier League's all time top goalscorer Alan Shearer.
