Marcus Rashford saw the funny side after the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care got his name wrong in a TV interview this morning.

Matt Hancock was on Sky News this morning talking about how the Manchester United star forced the government to reverse the decision on school meals and allocate an extra £120 million to ensure 1.3 million children don't go hungry in the summer holidays.

But he completely butchered the 22-year old's name and said Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke to "Daniel Rashford".

Hancock, who had previously called for footballers to do their bit for the NHS before ultimately being shown up by a footballer from Wythenshawe, was made to look like an absolute idiot.

But Rashford joked he'd been called much worse in recent times despite his incredible campaign.

Manchester United and England forward Rashford fought hard on a subject he cares passionately about, having received free school meal vouchers as a youngster while his mum worked to put food on the table.

He was even allowed to join the United academy and move into their accommodation such was the difficult situation he found himself in.

As well as giving interviews on the matter, Rashford penned a lengthy letter to the government, who would eventually give into the pressure created.

It's the latest in a long list of brilliant gestures from Rashford. He raised £20 million to feed youngsters during the COVID-19 pandemic, supported a campaign to help Manchester's homeless and learned sign language so he could communicate with deaf children ahead of a poetry competition.

He's more than a footballer. He's a role model who deserves the highest amount of praise for his work off the pitch.
